I’m so happy today.. becaused It’s Merdeka day for Malaysia.. only one thing that I really not happy@geram was.. I missed the 50th Merdeka Celebration Parade in KK yesterday (WarggghhHh!!) The alarm doesnt do any good to my sleeping beauty sickness. What I did the night before was totally in order..Camera, Battery, Charger, Umbrella, Sunglases,Tapau air, my iBook and card reader.. but pity I woke up only at 11am..Warghhh!!! Cian me, tinguk tv jak la.
Merdeka day is a national day of Malaysia which fall on 31st Aug 1957 to commemorating the independence of the Federation of Malaya from the British colonial rule. Sabah was only Merdeka On 16 Sept 1963 join together with Sarawak and Singapore to formed the Federation of Malaysia with Malaya.
Jalur Gemilang – Stripes of Glory is the national flag of Malaysia has been developed since its first creation 67 years ago.. and did you know this flag considered as the third version of Malaysian flag since it was first call Federated MalayStates back from 1896 to 1950.
It represents the union of the four Malay states of Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang (Negeri Negeri Melayu Bersekutu) in a federation as a protectorate under the British Crown. Malayan Tiger (Harimau Malaya) was the symbol placed in the middle.
2nd version is Malaya, from 1950 -1963 (this when Sabah + Sarawak + Singapore join (Malaya to formed Malaysia) and this is the current flag of Malaysia (Semenajung + Sabah + Sarawak), Singapore was expelled in 1965 after heated ideological conflict between the both goverment. Malaysian flag was first designed by a 29 year old architect, Mohamed Hamzah from Johor. He actually won the Malayan flag design competition in 1947 which attracted 373 entries. Later the ‘Star’ on the flag been modified to 11 stars, which pointed one to represent all the Malayan states at that time.
and now this is the current national flag for Malaysia called Jalur Gemilang, it was named by Tun Dr. Mahathir (4th Prime Minister) in 1997 and from 11 stripes to become 14 stripes following an addition of two other federal territories, Labuan (1984) and Putrajaya (2001) after Kuala Lumpur was designated as a federal territory of Malaysia on 1st February 1972.
