I didn’t manage to go for the second night Kota Kinabalu District Level Kaamatan Carnival at Lintasan Deasoka the other day, but I did drop by during the afternoon, just before the event started at 7pm. However, I’ve visited the ‘Pondok Kebudayaan’ for about half an hour to snap some few good photos on the Sabah hand-made handicrafts..

Vinusak necklace, from Rungus tribe in Kudat, northern part of Sabah.

Bakul Rotan.

Let the PROs show you how they made it.

and I was lucky during that time there were about three dancers performing a cultural dance from a Rungus tribe.

that’s when the batt runs out of power.. next Kota Kinabalu District Level Kaamatan Carnival 2008 – Part 3

All photos taken from Sabah Fest 2008 grand launching at Magellan Sutera, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Borneo.

Which one was your favourite??.. mine is the 4th pic from top! Ha! Ha!

On last Sunday, Malaysia Airlines Managing Director/CEO, Dato’ Sri Idris Jala had made a breaking news on announcement of declaration that Malaysia Airlines is transforming into a World’s Five Star Value Carrier with a promised that you will be able to enjoy 5 Star Service at a low price.

I mean really low price!!

Is it another smart move towards the Malaysia Airlines improvement economic growth by Dato’ Sri Idris Jala himself since the crucial time MAS had spent back few years ago or is it just a way to get along with other low fare carrier.. I don’t have the idea, let the PRO’s + politicians deal with it, what I’ve been noticing was since the announcement on TV, emails and newspapers, starting on 4th May 2008, the site had been jammed all day due to enormous traffic coming to the site, those who manage to log in, then you must be lucky.

Those who interested to get these special fares, you only need to take 3 steps : (While the tickets still available)

Step 1: Go to website at as these fares are only available via the internet.
Step 2: You must buy the ticket at least 30 days before flight departure.
Step 3: Remember these tickets are non-refundable and the flight dates cannot be changed.

It’s the 20th Sabah Fest 2008 festival extravaganza celebration which has been launched on last Saturday, 3rd May 2008 at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu. … and I was there!! not to work but to join the fun!! Yeay!!!

Kids with traditional costume.. wait till you see how they perform.

Tourist are among that present to enjoyed the show.

The show started with an introduction of cultural wedding presentation of the Bajau group.

One of the Bajau’s wedding tradition.

Colourful patterns of backdrop for the wedding.

Later the Sabah Fest 2008 has been officially launched by the Sabah’s Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmadshah bin Abdullah and wife.

together with the Chief Minister of Sabah Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

Then the cultural dance performance start..

Dance of Kudapasu

Dance of Igal Tabawan

Dance of Umang Ting Ting

Dance of Medtemu of the Dusun Ranau.. (sumandak-sumandak Ranau cun-cun oohh!)

Dance of Kudapasu

I love zoom lenses.. (haaa!! sumandak ini pun cun jugak!! workh!! koff!! koff!!)

I admire all these kids, macnificent performances!!

Dance of Magunatip..

The locals use to call them the Sabahan Warriors.

By the end of the event, all cultural dances came out to the stage and gather around and it’s time for a group singing, conducted by a local singer.

A Kompang playing by the Brunei group.

Backup vocal..

It’s the end of the show, everybody was enjoying the moment!! I must say that only this particular night you have the opportunity to see all Sabahan unique culture become unite + harmonious with colours and patterns.. and I’ve enjoyed the most.. proud to be true Sabahan!

More photos are coming.. stay tune! meantime, for full detail info about that night show.. kindly go HERE!
