It’s been quiet a nice overnight visit of a 3 days 2 nights trip at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort in Tuaran recently. I’m sharing my experience here for those who seek for a nice and good spot in Sabah for an overnight relaxing.. Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria is one of the spot.

Let’s start from the Indoor part..

This how the room looks, eventhough the design base was modern contemporary, but the Malaysian culture surrounds some part of the rooms where as you can see some paintings of Iban or Murut tribe and few other stuff are made by rotan.

While on the upper level where the bed is, I love the bed design look.

This a Garden Wing Deluxe Garden view room with a private balconies and will cost you around RM400 per night on publish rate.

View from the private balconies, a nice soothing lush landscape, this Garden Wing rooms at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort offer a total of 330 rooms + suites available.

Bathroom are quiet simple but yet it feels really relaxing during your nice warm bath.

It took me almost one hour bathing here since I don’t have this one yet at the house.

Coffe and tea making facilities is a must, exclude the McD Apple pie.

Internet connection are available on each room with free access. (apalagi torrent all night long)

Mosquito coil?? Hmm.. no worries, during the two nights I was here I had experience none mosquito around, err.. just one huge mosquito with long brownies hair color who bite on the neck.

Sure I want to get like one of those huge mirror beside of the bed place in my room, err… but I’ll place it on top of the ceiling.. How’s that?

Now we move on to the lobby area, It’s an open lobby with wide floor, love the wood structure ceiling, it reminds me at Nexus Resort Karambunai. (will cover this also soon)

Front office reception desk..

Activities and information board along the corridor to the lobby.

Some of the few paintings are frame along the corridor and most of them are handmade paintings from the local Sabahan.

This one is a Shadow Puppet or ‘Wayang Kulit’ in malay, refers to a traditional puppet theatre originally came from Bali.

On the lobby area, they are local musicians playing a traditional music.. this instrument is call ‘Kulintangan’ if I’m not mistaken.

As you can see carefully, there are two types of ‘Kulintangan’ available, round and rectangular shapes, not sure what the different are but I’ll find out for you guys later.

Sorry… to be continued..

  1. Jewelle Tan says:

I like Rasa Ria too but haven’t stayed here for years and I think having the guys play live traditional music in the background is very interesting too – don’t think there’s any other local hotels that do that right?

  2. esharkj says:

You should revisit some time Jewelle.. Err, beside Rasa Ria having their own traditional music played in the lobby area, other hotels you can find here is Magellan Sutera harbour, not just a traditional music, they even have a traditional dance show. While Nexus Karambunai probably none, however they do make any special greetings by a headhunter’s welcome.. the same goes to Shangri-La Tg.Aru..
