Hi all! today I’m bringing you guys to a place called Kinarut Mansion, near the Kinarut-Beringgis road with a total distance of 30km from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The Kinarut Mansion or the locals calls it ‘Rumah Besar Kinarut’ others also calls ‘Rumah Besar Agam Kinarut’ was believed been built between the year 1910 and 1914 as a resident to Mr. W.F.C. Asimont, the first manager of Kinarut Rubber Estate in Sabah.

The Kinarut Mansion was declared a historical building in 1993 under the Sabah Land Ordinance. Covering some 7.09 hectares, the mansion and its surroundings were designated a heritage site in 1998 for conservation and it was officially opened to the public in 1995.

The stairs leading all the way up to the site of the Kinarut Mansion.

Looking at the architectural concept of the ruins, it’s merely something typical to Greco-Roman style of building.

Now, what remain are just broken pillars and bricks, however you can still noticed the remnants of the stairs by its size.

There are not many stories related about Kinarut Mansion over the internet, I believed more detail stories can be found over the Sabah Archives office. Therefore some questions of ‘How did this place demolished as it is today?’ ‘What exactly happen to this place?’ ‘Who built the mansion?’ are still remain unanswered.

Today, the Kinarut Mansion is managed under the authority of the Sabah Museum.
